Improved Laser Eye Surgery Results (*)

The data from the survey indicated that the passage of time has a positive effect on post-operative symptoms such as glare, halos, or ghost images. For instance, in the original trial, patients were asked to compare their vision prior to surgery to their vision following the procedure.
- 73% of the patients reported seeing the same or less glare.
- 52% reported the same or less halos.
- 79% reported seeing the same or less ghost images.
However, today, five to eight years after those initial procedures, the surveyed patients reported:
- 63% of patients reported no glare (Of those reporting glare, it generally occurred immediately following surgery and diminished over time.)
- 62% said they had no halos (Again, those with halos generally reported them as occurring directly following the surgery.)
- 89% of respondents experienced no ghost images.
The drop in reported side effects is attributed to stabiliza¬tion and improvement of vision as time passes. This study also found that based on the patients' experiences, 94% would have the procedure again, which indicates an extremely high satisfaction level.
